The backpack is organized into layers and control planes that modules can slot into to get power and use shared data bus lanes.
Each layer would have its own control plane and use the previous layers locking tabs that would be present on the top of the module. This should enable many combinations of equipment and configuration of the backpack.
Slots and keys¶
A grid of slots available on the base layer, layed out in a grid would enable modules to be stacked and vary in size/depth.
